Turkish columnist Abdulkadir Selvi warned that Iran's instability poses a major threat to Türkiye, saying that if Iran falls, Israel would become Türkiye's border neighbor.

Writing in his Hurriyet column on Wednesday, Selvi said Iran is experiencing one of the most difficult periods in its history. He noted that while unrest occurs in Iran every 4-5 years, this situation is different.

"The U.S. and Israel are pressing for chaos to deepen in Iran and for civil war. In the 12-Day Wars, Israel and the U.S. struck Iran. They got a taste of blood. This time, they want to start a civil war in Iran. That is why they have put influence agents into play," Selvi wrote.

Selvi said the conflict extends to social media, where people are being provoked. He noted that Elon Musk's Starlink satellites are being used, followed by U.S. and Israeli warplanes.

"But Iran is not easy prey. Iran's stability is important for Türkiye's and the region's stability," Selvi stated.

Iran's regional role in Middle East

The Turkish columnist also noted that suicide drones used by YPG-led SDF terrorists in Aleppo were made by Iran.

"Iran competes with Türkiye in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq. Iran is working to prevent the PKK from laying down weapons," he added.

"But Türkiye supports Iran's stability despite this. Now is not the time to criticize Iran. Now is the time for solidarity with Iran. I hope that after these events, Iran reviews its policies regarding Türkiye," Selvi wrote.

"Iran regularly experiences unrest every 4-5 years," according to Selvi.

"Sometimes these actions are suppressed brutally. But this time is different because of external pressure from the U.S. and Israel," he wrote.

Selvi said the "U.S. and Israel tasted blood in the 12-Day Wars and now want civil war in Iran." He characterized their actions as "using influence agents, social media provocation, Starlink satellites, and warplanes to destabilize the country."

'Destabilization of Iran poses a great danger to Türkiye'

Selvi warned that if the U.S. and Israel succeed in destabilizing Iran, a major danger emerges for Türkiye.

"Iraq's American occupation and the subsequent civil war caused us the most damage. Syria's civil war harmed us in the first degree. Iran is not like any of these countries. If the U.S. and Israel succeed in Iran, a major danger emerges for us. Civil war breaks out in Iran. Israel becomes our border neighbor.

That is why Iran's stability means Türkiye's stability. Tehran's stability means Ankara's security," he stated.

He described the U.S. and Israel as playing a very dangerous game, seeking to upset regional balances through Iran's collapse.

"Will they succeed? The danger is great, but they must not succeed. While Iran is going through a difficult period, Türkiye again stands beside Iran as its most reliable neighbor," Selvi concluded.
