Iranian media outlets are calling on the public to identify Iranians living abroad who are accused of celebrating and supporting U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, while the judiciary has opened 100 legal cases against expatriates accused of cooperating with what Iranian authorities describe as a hostile enemy.
According to reports by Fars News Agency and Mehr News Agency, the effort involves public reporting, intelligence follow-up and legal action aimed at prosecution and asset seizure.
Fars News Agency, which is affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, published a message calling on the public to identify what it described as "Persian-speaking traitors."
The outlet urged viewers who recognized people shown in a video "dancing and celebrating the bombing of Iran" to report them through a judiciary-linked website.
Fars said the campaign was being carried out "with the planning of the Judiciary."
It also said the effort was aimed at identifying individuals for asset confiscation.
The appeal was published alongside a video that Fars said showed hundreds of Iranians abroad dancing and chanting in celebration of the strikes.
Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency reported Sunday that the judiciary had opened 100 legal cases against Iranian nationals living abroad.
According to Mehr, the cases were launched based on public tips and follow-up by intelligence agencies.
"These cases are being pursued with the aim of issuing indictments, conducting legal proceedings, and seizing assets," Mehr reported.
The reports said Iranian authorities were pursuing expatriates accused of cooperating with what Iran described as a hostile enemy, with media outlets urging the public to help identify suspects and the judiciary moving ahead with legal cases and possible asset seizures.
