The commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Maj. Gen. Ali Abdollahi, said the country’s armed forces are prepared to deliver “firm, decisive and immediate responses” to perceived threats.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, Abdollahi issued the statement on the anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
“The Revolutionary Guard Corps and the army, with the support of the people, resisted the aggression of the enemies and forced them to seek a ceasefire in desperation,” he said.
Referring to statements by United States President Donald Trump, Abdollahi said Iran’s armed forces would not allow what he described as “false and baseless narratives,” particularly regarding control of the Strait of Hormuz.
“The Armed Forces will not allow Trump to fabricate false and baseless narratives, particularly regarding the management and control of the Strait of Hormuz and the situation on the ground, or to exploit the situation,” he said.
Abdollahi added that Iran’s military remains fully prepared to respond to any escalation.
“The brave Iranian Armed Forces, together with the noble people and the government, in full compliance and unity with the directives of the Commander-in-Chief (Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei), are ready to deliver firm, decisive and immediate responses to the enemy’s threats and actions,” he said.
The remarks come as regional tensions have escalated following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, which were followed by retaliatory attacks by Tehran on Israel and other regional countries hosting U.S. assets.
Pakistan hosted talks between the United States and Iran on April 11-12 after brokering a two-week ceasefire that took effect on April 8 and is set to expire Wednesday. Efforts to organize another round of negotiations are ongoing, though uncertainty remains.
