Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is set to return to Islamabad after a stop in Oman, as diplomatic activity intensifies around ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington, Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported.
Araghchi is expected back in Pakistan on Sunday, where he will rejoin members of his delegation who had traveled to Tehran for consultations and, according to IRNA, "instructions on the topics related to the end of the war."
The visit marks Araghchi's second trip to Pakistan in the same diplomatic circuit, which has also taken him to Oman and is set to continue with a stop in Russia.
Türkiye's top diplomat Hakan Fidan held separate phone calls with both Araghchi and Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, according to sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
In a separate account of the same call, the Iranian foreign ministry said Araghchi personally briefed Fidan on developments related to the ceasefire and the state of diplomacy aimed at ending the war in the region.
The calls focused on the latest developments in the negotiation process between Iran and the United States.
Iran and the United States have held several rounds of indirect and direct negotiations in recent years over Tehran's nuclear program, with Oman frequently serving as a channel for back-channel communications between the two sides.
A portion of Araghchi's delegation had separately gone to Tehran ahead of his return to Pakistan, the IRNA report noted, suggesting that the Islamabad leg of the trip carries renewed instructions from Iranian leadership. The nature of those consultations was not disclosed beyond the reference to war-related topics.
