Israel’s military said Tuesday it will continue to pursue and “neutralize” anyone it considers a threat, including Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

Speaking to reporters, Israeli military spokesperson Effie Defrin said the IDF does not know Khamenei’s current status, noting he has not been seen or heard in public since his appointment.

“But I can say one thing: we will continue – as we have proven – we will continue to pursue anyone who poses a threat to the state of Israel,” Defrin said. “We will pursue him, find him, and neutralize him.”

Defrin added that anyone who “raises a hand” against Israel is “not immune.”

Continued operations and prolonged campaign

Defrin said Israel will continue targeting members of Iran’s paramilitary Basij forces, adding: “We will reach everyone, no matter where or when.”

The military said earlier Tuesday it killed Basij commander Gholamreza Soleimani.

He also said Israel is preparing for a “prolonged campaign, including during Passover,” which falls in the first eight days of April this year.

Khamenei rejects de-escalation proposals

According to a Reuters report published Tuesday, Mojtaba Khamenei has rejected proposals to reduce tensions or reach a ceasefire with the U.S.

The report, citing a senior Iranian official, said the proposals were conveyed to Tehran by two intermediary countries.

The official said Khamenei’s stance on retaliation against the U.S. and Israel was “very tough and serious” in his first foreign policy session, without clarifying whether he attended in person.
