Israeli airline companies are stepping up preparations amid rising tensions with Iran and the possibility of military scenarios, according to reports citing aviation sector sources.
The daily Israel Hayom reported that airlines are carrying out extensive operational and service-related preparations in response to a potential deterioration in regional security conditions.
Unnamed aviation sources said multiple scenarios are being evaluated, including possible restrictions on certain flights and leased aircraft.
Emergency plans are also being prepared for the evacuation of Israeli aircraft to foreign airports in the event of a sudden worsening of the security situation.
The sources added that coordination has already been established with foreign airports to secure parking space for Israeli aircraft should new instructions be issued by security bodies or aviation authorities.
On the service side, airlines have reinforced call centers and sales offices with additional staff, prepared standard information messages for passengers, and adjusted technical infrastructure to handle potential changes to flight schedules and increased demand.
Aviation sources stressed that the safety of passengers and flight crews is being treated as the top priority and that all preparations are being carried out in full coordination with security institutions and relevant authorities.
As of Saturday morning, air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv was continuing as normal.
However, airline companies were closely monitoring developments on the ground and said new decisions could be taken depending on how the situation evolves.
As discussions and warnings continue over a possible U.S. strike on Iran, Israeli officials have said preparations are being made for all scenarios.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously warned that Israel would respond forcefully if Iran were to attack the country.
