A military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader warned on Wednesday that any renewed U.S. attack on Iran would be met with missile and drone strikes. His statement came in the wake of recent U.S. strikes on an Iranian tanker and on Qeshm Island, which triggered Iran's retaliatory attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain.
Mohsen Rezaei issued the warning in a post on X, saying Iran would not allow the U.S. to overreach in either negotiations or the ceasefire process.
“Neither in negotiations nor in the ceasefire process will we allow America to overreach,” Rezaei said.
Rezaei said any attack on Iran would draw a major response. “The response to every shot and aggression will be a barrage of missiles and drones,” he said. “History will not turn back, and the aggressor will be swiftly punished,” he added.
His remarks followed U.S. strikes on an Iranian tanker and on Iran’s Qeshm Island. Iran responded with attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain.
Kuwait’s military said on Wednesday that hostile drones targeted the T1 passenger terminal at the Kuwait International Airport, causing significant material damage and injuring several people.
Brig. Gen. Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, spokesperson for Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense, said the attack was part of what he called “criminal Iranian aggression.”
He said the injured received necessary medical care after the strike.
The Kuwait Army said the armed forces were monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant authorities.
It added that military units were in a state of full readiness to deal with any developments and take all necessary measures to preserve the country’s security and stability.
The attack came after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced missile attacks on military bases hosting U.S. forces in Kuwait in retaliation for a U.S. strike on Iran’s Qeshm Island.
