PKK/YPG terrorist organization members ignored the March 10 agreement. They began digging tunnels east of the Euphrates. Overnight, they detained dozens of Arab tribesmen supporting the Damascus government in Syria’s Hasakah province. The group cited links to the Daesh terrorist organization, local sources told Anadolu Agency (AA) on Sunday.

According to residents, armed PKK/YPG terrorist units raided several neighborhoods in central Hasakah, including Guweiran, Aziziyah, Nashwa, Hashman and Zuhur.

During the raids, the militants looted homes and assaulted residents.

Among those detained were women, many of whom had recently traveled to Damascus to meet with government officials.

Hasakah-based academics, activists and journalists condemned the detentions in a joint statement, calling them a clear human rights violation.

The statement urged the immediate release of all detainees and warned that the practices of the PKK/YPG terrorist organization’s political wing, the so-called SDF, pose a serious threat to social stability in the region.

The statement also appealed to the Syrian government to uphold its responsibility to protect civilians, cautioning that continued raids could spark a new wave of communal unrest.
