Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said on Monday the Qatari Emiri Air Force shot down two Su-24 aircraft coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a statement issued by the Directorate of Moral Guidance in Doha on March 2, 2026, the ministry said the aircraft were downed thanks to a high level of readiness and joint coordination among relevant authorities.

The ministry also said air defenses intercepted seven ballistic missiles and five drones that targeted several areas in the state.

Missiles intercepted before impact

The ministry said the threat was addressed immediately upon detection in accordance with the operational plan, adding that all missiles were shot down before reaching their targets.

The statement said the drones were intercepted by the Qatari Emiri Air Force and Qatari Emiri Navy Forces.

Call for calm

The ministry said the Qatari Armed Forces possess full capabilities and resources to safeguard the state’s sovereignty and lands and to respond firmly to any external threat.

It urged citizens, residents and visitors to remain calm, follow official instructions issued by security authorities, avoid rumors and rely only on information released through official channels.
