Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has accused Türkiye and the U.S. of arming ethnic Albanians in Kosovo against Serbia. He also accused Albania, Croatia, and Kosovo of creating a "military alliance" aimed at endangering Serbia's territorial integrity.
During his speech with foreign ambassadors based in Belgrade, he said that Albania, Croatia, and Kosovo have expanded their military agreements with Slovenia and are trying to include Bulgaria in these processes, emphasizing that the goal is to endanger Serbia's territorial integrity and attack on the civilian population and security structures.
Kosovo-based Telegrafi cited Vucic as saying, "The Americans are arming Albanians in Kosovo, as is Türkiye. The goal is an attack on Serbia and the Serbian population."
In a dramatic outburst on his X account in October, the Serbian leader had condemned Türkiye for a "brutal violation of the U.N. Charter" and accused Ankara of destabilizing the Balkans and "dreaming of restoring the Ottoman Empire."
After the initial remarks, Vucic said, his country is "too small to threaten Türkiye," describing it as NATO’s second-largest military power.
He added that Serbia would continue to defend the freedom and survival of its people while maintaining what he called the "golden age" of relations between Türkiye and Serbia.
Vucic also accused Kosovo and the major powers of not respecting anything that has been signed so far within the framework of the Brussels dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
The last agreement was reached precisely by Vucic and the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti in February 2023.
The implementation of that agreement, for the normalization of neighborly relations, never began.
Contrary to the agreement reached at the time, according to which Serbia would stop the campaign to de-recognize Kosovo, Vucic warned that Serbia "will have to continue the difficult and tedious work of canceling the recognitions."
