The Israeli army detained at least 19 Palestinians during overnight raids in the occupied West Bank, while attacks by illegal Israeli settlers intensified across the territory.
According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, six people were detained in Nablus, while nine others were taken into custody in Bethlehem and Nablus, including six members of the same family.
Additional arrests took place in Hebron in the south and in Ramallah in the north.
Palestinian figures indicate that since the beginning of the Gaza war in October 2023, more than 18,000 Palestinians have been arrested in the West Bank.
Human rights groups note that these large-scale detentions have increasingly targeted civilians in towns and villages.
In parallel with the military raids, settler violence has escalated.
Wafa reported that settlers pelted Palestinian vehicles with stones and damaged water infrastructure in Ramallah.
In Jericho, farmlands were targeted, adding to concerns about the destruction of agricultural livelihoods in the region.
The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission documented 466 settler attacks in July alone, which resulted in four Palestinian deaths and the forced displacement of two Bedouin communities, totaling around 50 families.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least 1,014 Palestinians have been killed and over 7,000 injured in the West Bank by Israeli forces and settlers since October 2023.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued a landmark advisory opinion in July 2024, declaring Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory unlawful.
The court called for the withdrawal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, stating, “Israel’s continued presence in the occupied territory is illegal under international law.”
