Syrian military units have begun conducting military training in Türkiye using Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) barracks and training areas, Defense Ministry officials announced on Thursday, marking a significant expansion of Turkish-Syrian military cooperation under a formal defense framework.
"To meet Syria's capacity development needs, units of the Syrian military have begun conducting military training in Türkiye using Turkish Armed Forces barracks and training areas," Defense Ministry officials stated.
"Syria's government continues reconstruction work with all its institutions and continues efforts aimed at establishing stability and security in the country."
Within the framework of the Joint Training and Advisory Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed to increase Syria's defense and security capacity, 49 Syrian students are planned to begin training at Turkish War College.
The students comprise 10 ground force trainees, 18 naval trainees, and 21 air force trainees.
Defense Ministry Spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Akturk stated: "Within the framework of the Joint Training and Advisory Memorandum of Understanding signed to increase Syria's defense and security capacity, 49 Syrian students (10 Ground, 18 Naval, 21 Air) are planned to begin training at our War College tomorrow."
The Ground, Naval, and Air War College and Non-Commissioned Officer Vocational College of the National Defense University host 696 war college students and 241 non-commissioned officer college students from 29 countries to develop military capabilities of friendly and allied forces and contribute to regional security and stability.
The Joint Training and Advisory Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on August 13.
Following the signing, "training, visits, advisory, and technical support activities continue in response to Syrian government requests to increase defense and security capacity," Defense Ministry officials stated.
"Syria's government continues reconstruction work with all its institutions and continues efforts aimed at establishing stability and security in the country," the Defense Ministry sources stated.
"Matters related to 'Terror organization SDF's integration into the Syrian government' are being followed carefully and with sensitivity by the Defense Ministry," Defense Ministry officials added.
The Defense Ministry also spoke about the recent defense procurement contract, saying, "To meet the Air Force Command's operational requirements, a contract was signed on October 27, with the United Kingdom for the procurement of newly manufactured Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, equipment, and various ammunition."
"The procurement includes 20 newly manufactured Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, their mission equipment, and various types and quantities of ammunition. The project cost is approximately £5.4 billion," Defense Ministry officials stated.
"Work continues on acquiring Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft from Qatar and Oman to meet the Air Force Command's operational requirements," the Defense Ministry sources noted.
Contacts continue regarding the establishment of a task force in Gaza, according to the Turkish Defense Ministry.
"Turkish Armed Forces continue coordinated preparations with relevant institutions of our state. As one of the architects of the ceasefire agreement, diplomatic and military consultations continue with other countries," Defense Ministry officials stated.
"Full implementation of the ceasefire agreement and Israel's complete compliance with the agreement are essential for achieving peace and security in the region," Defense Ministry Spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Akturk stated.
"As one of the architects of the ceasefire agreement, Türkiye is prepared to contribute to achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the region and to establishing peace in Gaza as before and hereafter," Rear Admiral added.
