U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly presented a comprehensive plan to end Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip permanently during a high-level meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The session, held Tuesday night, included Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, leaders from Indonesia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Pakistan, and Egypt. According to three Israeli Channel 12 sources familiar with the discussions, Trump outlined a strategy targeting the cessation of nearly two years of Israeli military operations in Gaza.
Trump emphasized to the attending leaders that Israel must immediately halt its strikes on Gaza. Sources said he framed the plan as a response to Israel’s growing international isolation. The president urged leaders to support the initiative and participate in what he termed the “Day After” plan for Gaza.
The U.S. proposal largely builds on the “Day After” framework developed by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, sources added.
According to Channel 12, the plan calls for the release of all Israeli captives, the establishment of a lasting ceasefire, and a gradual Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza. It also proposes a governance mechanism in Gaza without Hamas, deployment of security forces from Arab and Islamic countries, and reconstruction funding from regional states.
The plan envisions Palestinian Authority participation in post-attack governance, aiming to stabilize the territory after years of bombardment.
Leaders attending the U.N. meeting signaled conditional backing, requiring Israel to refrain from annexing the West Bank or Gaza, stop any new incursions, and halt illegal settlement expansion. They also called for an immediate increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza and preservation of the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.
An Arab official present at the session told Channel 12, “Everyone left the meeting hopeful. For the first time, we sensed a serious plan on the table. President Trump wants the war to end. He wants this terrible period behind us and hopes for better progress in the region.”
Sources also noted that Trump explicitly told leaders Israel would not be permitted to annex parts of the West Bank.
Meanwhile, at least 19 more Palestinians were killed and dozens injured as Israeli forces continued attacks across Gaza. In Al-Nafaq, Gaza City, two were killed, while an Israeli strike in Al-Zawayda killed 11, including women and children, and injured nine others. Several remain trapped under rubble.
Additional casualties occurred in Khan Younis, where four were killed in an airstrike near the Jordanian Field Hospital, and another in Bani Suheila due to a drone strike. Multiple injuries were reported in Al-Tuffah and Nuseirat refugee camp.
Since October 2023, over 65,400 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have died in Gaza. Continuous bombardment has rendered large parts of the enclave uninhabitable, exacerbating starvation and humanitarian crises.
