Turkish security sources said the SDF, the Syrian branch of the PKK terrorist group, has until year-end to integrate into the Damascus government under the March 10 agreement, or face military operations by Syria with Turkish support.

Speaking to Akif Bulbul from Turkish media outlet Türkiye daily on Sunday, the security sources recalled the March 10 agreement, stating that the terror organization PKK's Syrian extension SDF will integrate into the Damascus administration by year-end.

They warned, "If they do not comply with the agreement, the Damascus government will conduct operations, and we will provide support."

Ankara's growing diplomatic and international influence continues to position it as a source of hope for the Middle East and regional countries, particularly regarding Syria and Gaza, according to the sources.

Security sources stressed that political and economic instability in the Middle East can be resolved under Türkiye's leadership. They noted that the U.S. administration has recently engaged in cooperation with Türkiye because it recognizes this reality.

Sources noted that if the SDF fails to comply with the March 10 Agreement, the Damascus government will conduct military operations, and Ankara will provide the necessary support. They also emphasized that PKK senior-level personnel will not be placed in Syria's government and military during the integration process.

Washington's recognition of Türkiye's regional importance

Turkish security sources emphasized that the United States has only recently begun to understand what Türkiye has been explaining for approximately ten years.

"America, for about 10 years now, has been trying to understand what we have been explaining to them. Without Türkiye, you cannot accomplish anything in this region. You may be a global power, but you cannot do everything alone. The only power you can work with in this region is Türkiye," the sources noted.

"Ankara's importance has been realized. Recent desires to work with us in Syria, Gaza, and the Ukraine-Russia conflict are examples of this. We are approaching them, trying to do business with us. Generally speaking, the United States now wants to bring relative stability to the Middle East and then leave the region," the sources said.

Syria's reconstruction and regional economic cooperation

Syria experienced extensive destruction during its conflict. Reconstruction efforts are now creating economic opportunities, according to the sources.

"Syria experienced very large destruction. Reconstruction creates economic value. In the coming period, presumably, Gulf countries, Türkiye, Egypt, and similar nations will come together and work on Syria's reconstruction and establishment of its economic system. It has slowly begun, but it will take some time. It is very important that America lifts its sanctions," the sources said.

March 10 agreement and SDF's integration framework

The sources outlined the integration requirements under the March 10 agreement in detail.

"The SDF will integrate by year-end. We are saying this: As an organization, you will dissolve yourselves, and as individuals, you will integrate into the army. You will no longer operate as a single organization. The SDF senior management will absolutely not hold positions in the Damascus government. We will definitely not accept this," the security sources stated.

"The March 10 agreement is on the table. These conditions, if not fulfilled, there is only one thing to be done. The Syrian government will conduct operations for its own unity and integrity, and Türkiye will support this," the sources added.

The sources noted that minor clashes have occurred recently in some areas, with the SDF continuing to resist. "Still resisting in some places. But eventually they will integrate. Because the United States, Syria, and Türkiye are in agreement on this matter. Israel is trying to stir up trouble. PKK members joining the SDF and then entering the Syrian army is not possible," the sources said.

US-Syria joint operations against Daesh

A significant development has emerged in regional counterterrorism cooperation. The Damascus government and the United States conducted their first-ever joint operation against the terrorist organization Daesh last week, according to the sources.

"The Damascus government and the U.S. conducted their first-ever joint operation against Daesh last week. This is an important threshold. The SDF's last argument loses its validity. Daesh operations against five countries—Türkiye, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon—previously agreed to establish a joint operations center against Daesh. We sent our personnel. Currently, this center has Syrians and us," the sources said.

"The Syrian army is conducting training utilizing Turkish military barracks and continuing operations. The second group is about to begin training in Türkiye. The training is going well," the sources lastly stated.
