Türkiye has requested the issuance of Interpol red notices for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Afek Moskovitch in connection with a case over an attack on Global Sumud Flotilla activists in international waters, Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said.
Gurlek said judicial proceedings over the incident, involving activists who were attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, were continuing before Istanbul’s 11th High Criminal Court.
The case, registered under file No. 2026/108, involves 35 defendants, including Netanyahu and Moskovitch.
Gurlek said arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Moskovitch were issued July 14, 2026, on a genocide charge.
Following those orders, the Justice Ministry asked the Interior Ministry to seek Interpol red notices so the two could be internationally wanted, while the relevant documents were also sent to the Foreign Ministry.
According to Gurlek, Netanyahu and Moskovitch are being tried over the armed intervention against civilians delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza in international waters and the detention of activists.
The charges include crimes against humanity, genocide, aggravated deprivation of liberty, intentional injury, torture, property damage, aggravated robbery and hijacking of transportation vehicles.
Gurlek said Türkiye rejected what he described as the view that the Netanyahu government was immune from accountability over its policies in Gaza.
“We will not allow the crimes committed in Gaza to be covered up or those responsible to be protected by a shield of impunity,” he said.
He added that Türkiye would continue using national and international legal mechanisms and, under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s leadership, would stand with the Palestinian people and others facing oppression.
“We will take all necessary steps with determination so that those who commit crimes against humanity are held accountable before the law,” Gurlek said.
