Unconfirmed reports claim that a U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle crashed early Wednesday during a strike mission over southwestern Iran, while U.S. officials have rejected the claim and official confirmation remains pending.
According to several reports circulating on X and information from multiple sources cited by reporters, a U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle allegedly crashed during a strike mission over southwestern Iran.
The cause of the reported crash remains unknown. At least one source cited in the reports attributed the incident to Iranian air defenses.
Both the pilot and the Weapon Systems Officer (WSO) reportedly ejected safely over Iranian territory.
Following the reported crash, Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) elements from the U.S. and Israeli air forces were allegedly activated from a neighboring country roughly one hour after the incident.
According to the reports, the rescue teams entered Iran and located both crewmembers, evacuating them without further incident.
The pilot and WSO were reportedly transported to Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia after the rescue operation.
The two crew members were said to have suffered minor injuries and were described as being in “good condition.” They were later reportedly airlifted for further treatment to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
However, U.S. officials speaking to The Washington Post rejected the reports that a U.S. Air Force F-15E had crashed during a strike mission over Iran.
As of now, official confirmation or further details have not been released.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet issued a statement regarding the alleged incident.
