Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call on Saturday discussing the latest regional developments.

Araghchi thanked Türkiye for its efforts to end the war while warning that contradictory U.S. behavior is deepening Iranian skepticism about American intentions.

Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler separately held a phone call with Iran's acting Defense Minister Majid Ebnelreza on bilateral and regional security matters.

US 'contradictory and unreasonable' demands increasing mistrust

According to Iranian state media Tasnim, Mehr and Fars, Araghchi thanked Türkiye and some regional countries for their efforts to end the war, then highlighted what he described as the core obstacle to progress.

"The main problem is the contradictory behavior and unreasonable demands of the American side. The contradictory behavior and statements of the American side are highly suspicious and have increased skepticism about their deceptiveness," Araghchi stated.

He described U.S. and Israeli military aggression against Iran as the principal cause of the current situation and instability in the region.

Fidan: Iran's skepticism 'understandable', committed to constructive role

Fidan acknowledged Iran's concerns, according to the Iranian readout.

"Iran's skepticism toward the other side is understandable, because Iran was subjected to military attack and aggression twice in the middle of negotiations," Fidan said.

He expressed Türkiye's readiness to play a constructive role in resolving the current crisis and referenced Ankara's approach to ending the war imposed by the U.S. and Israel against Iran.

The two ministers agreed to continue bilateral consultations and to maintain coordination with other regional countries.

There was no statement regarding the call issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Turkish, Iranian defense ministers also speak

Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler held a separate phone call with Iran's Acting Defense Minister Brigadier General Majid Ebnelreza.

During the call, views were exchanged on bilateral and regional defense and security matters, primarily on the latest developments," the Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MoND) said in a statement on its social media account on X.
