The Presidential Cup show jumping race closed a three-day equestrian weekend in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye in central Anatolia.
On Sunday, 46 riders faced fences set at 145 centimeters (4 feet 9 inches) at the Ankara Equestrian Club (Ankara Atli Spor Kulubu), in a race the Türkiye Equestrian Federation describes as the most prestigious in show jumping.
The race began with the horses.
Animals entered in the Presidential Cup faced a veterinary inspection on Oct. 1 at 2 p.m., three days before the race.
Stables opened two hours ahead of the check, and a technical meeting for riders followed it.
Entry rules shaped the field. Every horse and rider needed 2026 registration in the federation system, and online entries closed on Sept. 26.
A rider could bring a maximum of two horses to the Presidential Cup, and a horse could run only once per day. The race was open to Young Adult and Pro Adult riders with horses aged seven or older.
The Cup was the final fixture of a three-day program that opened on Friday.
Friday's classes ranged from 100 to 135 centimeters. Saturday's program ran from 105 to 140 centimeters and included the Eyup Sabri Tuncer Cup at 140 centimeters. Each day raised the bar a little, leading toward Sunday's main race.
Sunday began with younger categories ahead of the main race. The Stars division jumped 120 centimeters and the Juniors 130 centimeters, both counting toward the Türkiye League standings.
The Presidential Cup followed at 145 centimeters, run together with the Pro Adult leg of the league, so the result also carried league points for those riders.
The 145-centimeter fences sit at the top of the height scale the federation set for Pro Adult riders in the 2026 Türkiye League, where the class rose from 140 centimeters in the opening two legs to 145 centimeters from late March. The federation also noted that the live broadcast could change the running order.
Selahattin Yarkin Altindag won the Presidential Cup on Bettina.
Osman Sen finished second on Nagano and Sencer Can took third on Quintus-L.
Under the competition program, the winner received the cup and the top three finishers received medals.
Richard Grom placed fourth on Air Force One 19 and Hulki Karagulle fifth on Ricard de Muze, completing the leading five. Under the program, a horse-care contribution was set aside for each of those five finishers, a payment meant to cover the upkeep of the animals.
