Real Madrid defeated Getafe 1–0 in the ninth round of La Liga, maintaining their position at the top of the league table.
Arda Guler started the match on the bench and entered the game in the 65th minute, replacing Eduardo Camavinga. Fifteen minutes later, Guler provided a pass from outside the penalty area to Kylian Mbappe, who scored the only goal of the match. The goal was Mbappe’s 15th of the season in 11 league appearances. Guler has recorded three goals and four assists in nine La Liga matches this season.
During the match, Getafe were reduced to nine players. Nyom received a direct red card in the 77th minute for a foul, and Sancris was shown a second yellow card in the 84th minute, resulting in his dismissal.
The Spanish media once again highlighted the growing chemistry between the two stars:
Following the match, Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso commented on the performance, noting the impact of substitutes: “Vinicius came off the bench and had a big impact. We discussed in training that whether a player starts or comes on later, they can make a difference. Arda also had a great effect when he entered the game. He assisted Militao’s pass for the goal. Finding the rhythm was not easy, but he managed it.”
Alonso also addressed the midfield partnership: “I think Arda and Jude can play both the ‘6’ and ‘10’ positions. They can switch roles and make an impact. When Arda returned and provided the final pass, it made a difference. We want to see this duo play together more often.”
