Türkiye’s national basketball team capped off a historic run at the EuroBasket 2025 by finishing second and securing the silver medal. Despite falling short in the final against Germany, head coach Ergin Ataman was honored with the title of Coach of the Tournament, as voted by accredited journalists covering the event.
Ataman, who guided Türkiye to its first EuroBasket final since 2001, received widespread praise for his tactical adjustments and motivational leadership. His recognition as Most Valuable Head Coach underscored the impact he had on turning Türkiye into one of the tournament’s biggest success stories.
The tournament’s individual awards were unveiled. Among the highlights was the announcement of the All-Star Five, a lineup packed with Europe’s brightest talents.
Germany’s Dennis Schroder was named TISSOT MVP after steering his team to the rare World Cup–EuroBasket double. Despite a limited role in the group stage, Schroder turned up the intensity in the knockout rounds, averaging 20.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 7.2 assists. His 16 points and 12 assists in the Final cemented his second consecutive All-Star Five selection.
Luka Doncic may not have guided Slovenia to the semifinals, but his numbers were undeniable. The tournament’s leading scorer with 34.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game, Doncic also recorded the fourth-ever EuroBasket triple-double against Belgium. This marks his second All-Star Five appearance after 2017.
Germany’s success was also powered by Franz Wagner, whose all-around versatility made him indispensable. He averaged 20.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, delivering key performances in the quarter-final (23 points vs Slovenia) and the Final (18 points, 8 rebounds).
Giannis Antetokounmpo carried Greece back onto the podium after a 16-year wait. His monster performance of 30 points, 17 rebounds, and 6 assists in the Third-Place Game was the exclamation point of a tournament in which he averaged 27.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
Türkiye’s Alperen Sengun confirmed his rise as one of Europe’s biggest stars. He posted averages of 21.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.6 assists, ranking among the top three in both rebounding and assisting while cracking the top 10 in scoring. Sengun’s 28 points in the Final and his historic triple-double (19 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists) vs Poland will go down as defining moments of EuroBasket 2025.
