Barcelona has reached an agreement on personal terms with Dominik Livakovic, moving a step closer to securing the Fenerbahce goalkeeper, Turkish media reported.

The La Liga champions are now engaged in direct negotiations with the Turkish club over the transfer fee, as Fenerbahce are reportedly seeking approximately €3 million ($3.5 million) for the 31-year-old, who joined the Istanbul side in the summer of 2023 for €6.7 million.

Barcelona seeks replacement for Szczesny

Barcelona entered the summer transfer window with the objective of adding an experienced goalkeeper capable of providing competition for first-choice Joan Garcia and offering reliable cover when required.

The plan is for Livakovic to eventually succeed Wojciech Szczesny, whose contract with Barcelona expires at the conclusion of the next season. The Polish veteran is expected to depart, and the Croatian shot-stopper is being lined up as his replacement.

Negotiations between Barcelona and Fenerbahce are understood to be at an advanced stage, facilitated by agent Andy Bara, who represents Livakovic and maintains strong ties with the Catalan club, according to Turkish sports journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

Livakovic likely to be loaned to Zagreb

If the deal goes through, Livakovic is likely to be loaned out immediately—possibly to Dinamo Zagreb, where he spent the second half of the previous season on loan, or to another club.

He would remain with the loan side for the remainder of the current campaign before joining Barcelona in 2027, at which point he would assume the backup role behind Garcia following Szczesny’s departure.

However, the possibility of retaining Livakovic within Hansi Flick’s first-team squad for the upcoming season has not been entirely ruled out, according to the reports.

Since his arrival, the Croatian international has made 74 appearances for Fenerbahce, keeping 24 clean sheets and conceding 80 goals across all competitions.
