Besiktas GAIN will begin their BKT EuroCup final series against French side Cosea JL Bourg today in Istanbul, aiming to secure a historic European title and a place in next season’s EuroLeague.
The first game of the best-of-three series will be played at Besiktas GAIN Sports Complex at 20:00 local time.
Besiktas GAIN enters the final with home-court advantage after finishing the regular season at the top of Group B. The Turkish side completed the group stage with a 13–5 record, level with JL Bourg but ranked higher due to head-to-head advantage and point differential.
The Black Eagles is also targeting its first European trophy since 2012, with a EuroCup victory securing direct qualification to the EuroLeague.
The Black Eagles have been dominant at home throughout their European campaign this season, winning all matches played at the Besiktas GAIN Sports Complex. They will look to extend that perfect record in a decisive Game 1 advantage.
Besiktas also holds psychological superiority over JL Bourg, having won both regular-season encounters (90–60 at home and 103–99 away). This marks the third meeting between the sides this season.
Historically, the two clubs have met five times in European competition, with Besiktas leading 3–2 in head-to-head results.
Besiktas reached the final after eliminating Dolomiti Energia Trento in the quarterfinals and sweeping Bahcesehir College 2–0 in the semifinals. JL Bourg advanced by defeating Cedevita Olimpija in the quarterfinals and overcoming Turk Telekom 2–1 in a competitive semifinal series.
Besiktas will be without center Ismael Kamagate, who is sidelined due to injury and is expected to miss the final series.
The EuroCup final follows a 2–2–1 format, with Game 1 in Istanbul, Game 2 in France, and a potential Game 3 returning to Istanbul.
