Brazilian national volleyball player Ana Cristina has highlighted Türkiye’s significant progress in volleyball, describing the country as one of the strongest teams in the world at both club and international levels.
Cristina, who is representing Brazil at the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League while continuing her club career with Fenerbahce Medicana, said Turkish volleyball has undergone major development in recent years.
“Türkiye has improved not only at the league level but also at the national level. In 2023, the team almost won everything. There are areas where improvement can be made, but the overall progress is very good. Compared with other international teams, Türkiye is definitely ahead. The team is one of the best in the world,” Cristina said.
The Brazilian outside hitter praised the strength of Turkish teams, emphasizing the quality of players and the strong team chemistry that have contributed to Türkiye’s success on the international stage.
Speaking about her experience in Türkiye, Cristina said Fenerbahce Medicana has played an important role in her career growth, describing the club as her first international team experience.
"Fenerbahce is my first international club. I knew I would develop myself here, and I continue to improve. The club’s structure is truly excellent. As a team, we push each other in every training session to become better, and this helps my development significantly,” she said.
Cristina also reflected on her most memorable moments in Türkiye, highlighting the league championships she won with Fenerbahce as career milestones.
She recalled the 2023 season as a particularly special period when Fenerbahce defeated major rivals VakifBank and Eczacibasi to secure the Turkish league title. She added that the subsequent championship victory was equally unforgettable.
The player also spoke about her life in Türkiye and her adaptation to Turkish culture, noting that she has developed a strong appreciation for Turkish cuisine.
Cristina said she enjoys baklava and has gradually become more familiar with local cuisine. She added that lentil soup is among her favorite Turkish foods.
