Turkish international footballer Ferdi Kadioglu has been named Brighton & Hove Albion’s player of the season. The award was presented during a ceremony at the Amex Stadium, the British club’s home ground in southern England. Kadioglu received the men’s team honor, while Fran Kirby was named player of the season for the women’s team.
After receiving the award, the 26-year-old full-back said the recognition meant a great deal to him and thanked the supporters who voted for him.
“Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me. I am really happy to win this award. It means a lot to me,” Kadioglu said.
The Türkiye international played 41 matches for Brighton in all competitions this season and scored one goal.
Kadioglu joined Brighton in August 2024 from Fenerbahce on a four-year contract. Before moving to England, he spent six seasons with the Istanbul club, making more than 200 appearances and scoring 18 goals.
He also helped Fenerbahce win the Turkish Cup in 2023, a major domestic knockout competition in Türkiye.
Born in Arnhem in the Netherlands, Kadioglu began his professional career with NEC Nijmegen after spending more than eight years in the club’s youth system. He made his breakthrough in 2016 and went on to play 70 matches for the Dutch side before joining Fenerbahce in 2018.
Kadioglu was eligible to represent Türkiye, the Netherlands or Canada, as his father is Turkish and his mother is Dutch-Canadian.
Although he played for the Netherlands at youth levels from under-16 to under-21, he chose to represent Türkiye at the senior level in 2022. Since then, he has become a regular for the national team.
He was also one of Türkiye’s standout players at Euro 2024, playing every minute as the team reached the quarter-finals in Germany.
