Besiktas is pushing for a fresh start in the upcoming season with a new striker, but uncertainty looms over current forward Ciro Immobile. The Italian star may soon find himself sidelined, as the club considers excluding him from the squad.

Salary major obstacle

Besiktas President Serdal Adali had previously asked Immobile to take a pay cut from his €6 million annual salary.

However, the 35-year-old Italian has shown no interest in accepting a reduced deal, even signaling via social media that he has no intention of leaving Istanbul.

A recent offer from Fiorentina was deemed insufficient, prompting Adali to personally intervene.

The club has now invited Immobile's agent to Istanbul for face-to-face negotiations, hoping to resolve the matter directly.

Following earlier discussions, this in-person meeting is expected to bring clarity to Immobile's future. If no agreement is reached, Besiktas will reportedly inform the player that he will be excluded from the squad.

Solskjaer doesn’t see him in his plans

Head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, set to lead Besiktas next season, has reportedly made it clear that Immobile does not feature in his tactical plans.

The club expects that the threat of being sidelined may convince the player to reconsider his position and potentially agree to a departure.

Last season, Immobile made 41 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing 4 assists—a decent return, yet not enough to secure his future at the club under its new direction.
