English Premier League newcomer Coventry City has completed the signing of teenage striker Sidiki Cherif from Fenerbahce, with Turkish media putting the fee at €24.5 million ($28.5 million).
The 19-year-old, born in Guinea and raised in France from age five, has put pen to paper on a long-term contract, joining Frank Lampard's side as they prepare for their Premier League debut.
Cherif turned out 12 times in the Turkish Super Lig last season, finding the net twice. He had originally moved to Fenerbahce from Angers in February 2026, arriving on loan with an obligation to buy that totaled €22 million.
Neither club has gone public with the transfer's financial breakdown. Reports out of Türkiye have pegged the figure at €24.5 million.
That number places Cherif third on Fenerbahce's all-time outgoing transfers. Ahead of him were Ferdi Kadioglu, who went to Brighton for €30 million, and Arda Guler, who joined Real Madrid for €28 million. The deal pushes Yusuf Akcicek's €22 million move to Al-Hilal down to fourth.
Fenerbahce had put the young forward up for sale after bringing in Romelu Lukaku and Vedat Muriqi over the summer.
Cherif broke through at Angers, making his professional bow during the 2023-24 season. The club won promotion to Ligue 1 that year, and by December 2025 he had scored four times in the French top flight.
His form drew interest from clubs around Europe. He has also earned call-ups to France's Under-16 and Under-21 squads.
In a club statement, Cherif said he is thrilled to join Coventry and excited about playing in the Premier League. "I'm looking forward to showing the fans what I can do," he said, "and I can't wait to get started."
Fenerbahce also put out a statement confirming they had reached an agreement with Coventry. The Turkish club thanked Cherif for his efforts and wished him well in his new chapter.
The English side have also wrapped up deals for Caleb Yirenkyi, Carl Rushworth, Loum Tchaouna, Aurele Amenda and Taiwo Awoniyi during this transfer season, with Gustavo Hamer has rejoined the club as well.
