National motorcyclist Deniz Oncu made history at the Motorland Aragon Circuit in Spain, becoming the first Turkish rider ever to win a Moto2 World Championship race.

Oncu clinched victory in the 8th round of the season by just 0.003 seconds in a dramatic photo finish, the closest in Moto2 history. The unforgettable race has captured the attention of both Turkish and international media.

A defining moment in Spanish sunlight

In a race that will be remembered for its intensity and razor-thin margin, Deniz Oncu engaged in a thrilling final-lap battle with Brazilian rider Diogo Moreira.

After briefly surrendering the lead near the finish, Oncu launched a last-second sprint on the final straight to reclaim first place, crossing the line just 0.003 seconds ahead.

First-ever Turkish winner in Moto2

With this incredible performance, Oncu becomes the first Turkish rider to win a Moto2 Grand Prix race, marking a historic milestone for motorsports in Türkiye.

Beyond the national significance, the race also entered the Moto2 record books for delivering the closest finish ever recorded in the championship’s history, separated by only three thousandths of a second.
