The Detroit Pistons kept their playoff hopes alive after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-94 in Game 6 of the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals on Friday, levelling the best-of-seven series at 3-3 and forcing a winner-takes-all finale.
The victory allowed Detroit to bounce back at a crucial moment in the postseason, preventing Cleveland from closing out the series and setting up a decisive seventh game on Sunday in Detroit.
Detroit managed to pull away behind a collective offensive display, with Cade Cunningham finishing as the team's top scorer with 21 points. While Cunningham led the way, the Pistons also received support across the roster, as Jalen Duren put up 15 points and 11 rebounds to record a double-double, while Daniss Jenkins added 15 points.
The home side's ability to spread out scoring helped them stay in control and push the series to its limit, with Detroit refusing to bow out in front of a high-stakes playoff crowd.
On the Cleveland side, James Harden stood out with 23 points, emerging as the team's leading scorer in a difficult night. Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley both chipped in with 18 points, though their contributions were not enough to stop Detroit from evening the series.
With the Eastern Conference semifinal now tied, the final game of the series will take place on Sunday in Detroit, where both teams will battle for a place in the next round.
