Fenerbahce advanced to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after holding Polish side Gornik Zabrze to a 1-1 draw away from home on Wednesday.
The Istanbul club, which had won the opening leg 1-0, went through with a 2-1 aggregate score and set up a third-round meeting with Austrian side Sturm Graz.
Fenerbahce made a fast start at Zabrze Arena and moved ahead through Anderson Talisca's penalty in the 12th minute.
The spot kick was awarded following a video assistant referee (VAR) review. Milan Skriniar went down inside the penalty area after a challenge from Lukas Sadilek during a corner taken by Marco Asensio.
Belgian referee Lothar D'hondt initially allowed play to continue but held up the restart after receiving a VAR warning. He then reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor and pointed to the penalty spot.
Talisca stepped up and converted the kick to put Fenerbahce 2-0 ahead on aggregate.
The match was briefly held up after smoke from flares reduced visibility inside the stadium. Play resumed in the 20th minute once the smoke had cleared.
Although Fenerbahce controlled much of the opening half, Gornik Zabrze began to build pressure before the break.
Goalkeeper Mert Gunok kept out several efforts, but the Polish side eventually drew level in the 10th minute of first-half stoppage time. Michal Sacek found the net following a crowded goalmouth scramble, sending the teams into halftime at 1-1.
Fenerbahce head coach Ismail Kartal responded by making two changes during the interval. Ismail Yuksek came on for Asensio, while Mason Greenwood replaced Irfan Can Kahveci.
Fenerbahce started the second half strongly and created several opportunities during the opening 25 minutes, although they were unable to turn their chances into another goal.
Gornik Zabrze stepped up their pressure after the 70th minute, but Fenerbahce shut down the home side's late attacks and saw out the draw to secure their place in the next round.
Talisca has now scored in both of Fenerbahce's competitive matches this season.
The Brazilian attacker struck the only goal of the first leg from a free kick before converting the penalty in Poland. He has opened the campaign with two goals from two appearances after finishing the previous season with 27 goals across all competitions.
