Fenerbahce Beko defeats Besiktas to take 3-1 lead in Turkish Basketball Super League playoff finals

Fenerbahce Beko earned a crucial 91-87 road victory over Besiktas Fibabanka in Game 4 of the Türkiye Sigorta Basketball Super League playoff finals Monday, taking a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The next game is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, at Ulker Sports and Event Hall. The first team to reach four wins will claim the national title.

Tight 1st half, fast-paced battle

The opening quarter was marked by scoring struggles in the paint, with the game tied 18-18 in the eighth minute. Fenerbahce gained the upper hand at the free-throw line and closed the period leading 26-22.

In the second quarter, Fenerbahce extended its lead to 36-27 by the 14th minute. Besiktas answered with a 10-2 run and briefly took the lead at 39-38 in the 17th minute. However, Fenerbahce regained control inside and entered halftime up 49-45.

The high tempo continued after the break. Besiktas leveled the game at 57-57 in the 25th minute and moved ahead 63-60 by the 28th. Fenerbahce responded with key baskets from Hayes-Davis and Metecan Birsen, reclaiming a 68-65 lead heading into the final quarter.

Late-game execution secures win

In the fourth, Melih Mahmutoglu and Allman exchanged baskets early before Baldwin extended Fenerbahce’s lead to 78-71 by the 35th minute. Besiktas responded with a 7-0 surge to tie it at 78-78.

Baldwin then delivered back-to-back buckets, giving Fenerbahce an 87-82 edge with 1:17 remaining. The visitors maintained their composure to close out the win at 91-87.

Tensions rise in closing minutes

Tensions flared late as Besiktas fans chanted profanities. Fenerbahce President Ali Koc approached the VIP section, prompting a verbal altercation between club officials and supporters.

Besiktas President Serdal Adali intervened, and police were called in to defuse the situation.

Special guests and a full arena

Players from both teams were accompanied onto the court by children from the Mutlulugun Adresi Social Solidarity Association Rehabilitation Center. The children participated in the pregame ceremony and presented gifts to the team captains.

Presidents Adali and Koc watched the game together, while several Besiktas football players attended in support of the basketball squad.

A capacity crowd of 10,000 packed the Basketball Development Center, where Besiktas fans created an electric derby atmosphere throughout the game.
