Fenerbahce Beko to face Barcelona in Europa League
‘I think a tough match awaits us,’ says Fenerbahce Beko Men’s Basketball Team Head Coach Sarunas Jasikevicius
Fenerbahce Beko Men’s Basketball Team Head Coach Sarunas Jasikevicius said that the match between Fenerbahce and Barcelona during the 30th week of the THY EuroLeague will be challenging.
“I think a tough match awaits us,” the coach said.
Speaking to the club’s website, Jasikevicius said: “Barcelona has been among the two best teams in the league all season long. Now, with Rubio added to their squad, they are one of the favorites of the EuroLeague. I think a tough match awaits us.”
The match at Ulker Sports and Event Hall will start at 8:45 p.m.
The yellow-dark-blue team is sixth in the league with 18 wins, having won the last three matches.
The Spanish representative is second in the league, with 20 games won in 29 weeks.
Barcelona won the match played between the sides in Spain this season, 89-81.
“We must prevent their fast attacks because they are one of the best in this regard. We must find a way to keep their strong players under control, especially by paying attention to Vesely and Kalinic, who had an incredible season. They will happily visit Ulker Sports and Event Hall to see the Fenerbahce fans. Likewise, the fans will welcome them back to their old home in the best possible way,” the coach said.
“As I said, when you play against one of the best teams in the EuroLeague, every detail and every situation is critical,” the coach said.
Fenerbahce Beko’s Serbian basketball player Marko Guduric said they will face a good team with talented players.
“This is our final match. It is a crucial match. We must beat Barcelona to guarantee the play-offs and perhaps our place in the top four,” he added.
“Ricky Rubio is with them, and he is getting better daily. That’s why we must be as prepared as possible and try to protect our home,” they said.
