Turkish Super Lig giant Fenerbahce has completed a major transfer coup by reaching an agreement with Italian side Lazio for French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
The Istanbul club will pay a total of €30 million ($35.04 million), including bonuses, to Lazio for the 26-year-old player. Following medical checks, Guendouzi is expected to sign a contract valid for 4.5 years, with an option for an additional year.
Fenerbahce officially confirmed the negotiations and shared a photo of the player on a private jet. "Our club is continuing negotiations with the player and his club regarding the transfer of France National Team player Matteo Guendouzi," the statement read. "In this context, the player has been invited to Istanbul to advance transfer talks and undergo medical checks."
Born on April 14, 1999, in Poissy, France, Guendouzi began his football journey in the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy. His professional career took him through Lorient, Arsenal, Hertha Berlin, and Marseille before joining Lazio.
His transfer value has seen steady activity over the years; he moved from Arsenal to Marseille for €11 million in 2022, and from Marseille to Lazio for €13 million in 2024.
This season, Guendouzi played 16 official matches for Lazio, contributing 2 goals and 1 assist. He has also been capped 14 times by the France National Team.
