The Turkish Football Federation has announced that its Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK) has imposed a 12-month suspension on Fenerbahce midfielder Mert Hakan Yandas due to alleged betting activity.
In its official statement, the federation said that the PFDK ruled the player guilty of breaching betting regulations and therefore issued a 12-month ban from all football-related activities.
Fenerbahce strongly rejected the ruling, calling it “unacceptable” and arguing that it was based on an ongoing and unresolved legal process. The club stated that the decision could cause irreparable harm to the player and is clearly contrary to legal principles and fairness.
The statement added that the club has consistently upheld universal legal standards and the presumption of innocence throughout the process.
Fenerbahce confirmed that it will immediately file an appeal with the Federation's Arbitration Board to seek the cancellation of the decision, and reiterated that it fully supports Mert Hakan Yandas.
