Turkish giant Fenerbahce has officially opened negotiations to acquire English winger Jadon Sancho from Manchester United as part of a major summer transfer push.
Following significant internal changes, including the appointment of Devin Ozek as sporting director, Fenerbahce aims to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season by bringing in the high-profile player.
Sancho’s high wage demands and transfer fee pose challenges; however, his eagerness to return to the European spotlight and Manchester United’s willingness to consider a loan deal have boosted Fenerbahce’s prospects. Italian club Napoli reportedly withdrew due to salary disagreements.
The 25-year-old winger has appeared in 201 club matches with 51 goals scored. After emerging as a star at Borussia Dortmund, he transferred to Manchester United in 2021 for about 85 million euros.
During the 2023-24 season, he was loaned to Chelsea, tallying five goals and 10 assists in 42 games. Sancho has also played 23 times for England’s national team.
Sancho’s current market value is estimated at 28 million euros, with an annual salary near €15 million at Manchester United.
If the transfer materializes, Fenerbahce will enhance its squad depth, aiming for greater success in Turkey’s Süper Lig and European competitions.
