Fenerbahce have stepped up their winter transfer plans after reports claimed that Anthony Musaba, currently playing for Samsunspor in the Turkish Super Lig, has emerged as a concrete target, with the player’s representative traveling to Istanbul for talks. The move is said to be directly linked to a request from head coach Domenico Tedesco, who is keen to add the Dutch winger to his squad.
As the mid-season transfer window draws closer, Fenerbahce is reported to have turned their attention to Musaba, a 25-year-old wide attacker known for his pace and direct playing style.
The Istanbul-based club, one of the most followed teams in Türkiye, is looking to strengthen its attacking options and has reportedly begun discussions centered on the player rather than formal club-to-club negotiations.
The situation gained further attention after Samsunspor president Yuksel Yildirim addressed the issue following questions raised on social media.
According to a post shared by Turkish sports reporter Erdem Acikgoz on X, Yildirim said that Samsunspor had not been officially contacted by Fenerbahce. He stated that, as far as the club was aware, Fenerbahce were holding talks directly with the player and were planning to trigger his release clause, a contractual condition that allows a player to leave if a specified amount is paid.
Separate reports from well-known transfer journalist Yagiz Sabuncioglu suggested that the push for Musaba came personally from head coach Domenico Tedesco.
The Italian-German manager is understood to see Musaba as a suitable fit for his tactical setup, particularly for the wing positions where speed and one-on-one ability are valued.
The process appears to have reached a more concrete stage after confirmation that Musaba’s representative arrived in Istanbul to hold meetings with Fenerbahce officials.
While no agreement has been announced, the visit is widely seen as a sign that negotiations are moving forward, even as Samsunspor remain formally outside the talks at this stage.
Anthony Musaba has been a regular presence for Samsunspor this season, featuring in 22 matches across competitions. During that run, he has contributed six goals and three assists.
