Fenerbahce have reportedly stepped up their January transfer activity by putting forward an official offer for N’Golo Kante, the French midfielder currently playing for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.
According to Turkish football journalist Yagiz Sabuncioglu, club officials are also set to sit down with the player’s representative in the coming days as talks begin to take shape.
As reported, the Istanbul-based club has already reached out formally to Kante, who has been linked with a possible departure from Al-Ittihad. The move comes as Fenerbahce continues to reshape its squad during the mid-season transfer period, often referred to internationally as the January window.
Club executives are said to be planning a direct meeting with the 34-year-old midfielder’s agent, underlining that the approach is more than exploratory.
The same report points out that Kante has also attracted attention from several European clubs, adding another layer to the developing situation.
Although no details of competing offers were disclosed, the growing interest suggests that the former Chelsea star remains a highly sought-after figure, despite having played outside Europe since 2023.
Kante joined Al-Ittihad after leaving Chelsea in 2023, marking his first move away from European football. However, the midfielder has reportedly struggled to fully settle in Saudi Arabia, which has fueled speculation about a potential exit.
Over the course of his professional career, Kante has appeared in 533 official matches, contributing 33 goals and 39 assists, figures that underline his long-standing influence as a defensive midfielder, a role often described as a “holding midfielder” for international audiences.
While no outcome has been confirmed, the planned meeting between Fenerbahce officials and Kante’s representative is expected to clarify whether negotiations can move forward.
