Greek football club Olympiacos has reportedly entered discussions with Istanbul club Fenerbahce regarding a potential move for Brazilian midfielder Fred, alongside his teammates Sebastian Szymanski and Sofyan Amrabat.

The three players, reportedly sidelined due to underwhelming form, are seen as experienced options who could offer immediate reinforcement to the Piraeus side, British sports outlet TransferFeed reported.

Fred draws interest as his role diminishes in Istanbul

Fred joined Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023 from Manchester United for €10 million and remained a central figure in the midfield over the past two seasons. However, the 32-year-old has recently seen his role reduced, now operating mainly as a rotation option, particularly following the arrival of 26-year-old French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

This season, Fred has made 24 appearances, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists. He is currently valued at €7 million ($8.14 million), with a contract running until 2027.

The midfielder has also attracted interest from clubs in Brazil and the U.K., with Atletico Mineiro and Premier League side Everton previously linked to him. However, financial obstacles have hindered progress. In December 2025, reports indicated that Atletico Mineiro withdrew from negotiations due to the total cost of the deal, suggesting that Fenerbahce remains firm on its valuation.

Szymanski linked to Rennes, Amrabat eyed by Betis

Polish midfielder Sebastian Szymanski, 25, has been the subject of transfer interest from several European clubs amid the January window, as, similar to Fred, his role in the club has deteriorated significantly.

Official contacts have reportedly begun between Fenerbahce and at least two clubs for his transfer, with French side Stade Rennes among the interested parties, and a verbal offer of €9 million from PSV Eindhoven reportedly turned down by the Turkish club, Turkish media reported, suggesting the club could approve a transfer if offers near €10 million materialize.

Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, 28, has been loaned to Spanish La Liga side Real Betis for the current season, with Betis seeking to retain him and reportedly preparing an offer of around €10 million for his transfer.
