The FIA announced Thursday that the 2025 World Rallycross Championship season finale will take place at Istanbul Park in Türkiye, with a double-header format scheduled for Sept. 20-21.

The revised finale replaces the previously planned single-race conclusion, following consultations with teams and organizers. The change maintains the originally intended six-round season while adding heightened drama to the title fight, with back-to-back contests at the iconic circuit.

The 2025 campaign has been one of the closest in recent years, with only 20 points separating the top four drivers heading into the final stretch. The Istanbul Park double-header is expected to intensify the championship battle while also reducing operational costs and supporting the series’ long-term sustainability.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the decision reflects the organization’s commitment to growth and competitiveness. “World Rallycross combines everything that makes our sport special: passion, unpredictability, and breathtaking action,” Ben Sulayem said.

“Ending the 2025 season in Türkiye with a double-header in partnership with the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation will provide a fitting finale to a fiercely competitive year. Our aim is to deliver the excitement that fans deserve and inspire the next generation of talent who will shape the future of rallycross.”

The FIA, which took over the promotional and organizational rights for World RX this season, has sought to reinvigorate the championship globally, with events ranging from Portugal’s heat to Sweden’s wet corners and Hungary’s distinctive red-dirt stages.

The next race in the series is set for Aug. 23-24 at the KymiRing circuit in Finland, before the championship concludes in Istanbul.
