A tragic incident occurred in the Serbian Super League as FK Radnički 1923 head coach Mladen Zizovic passed away after suffering a heart attack during his team’s league match against Mladost Lucani.
According to the statement released by the Serbian Football Federation, the 44-year-old Bosnian coach collapsed suddenly in the technical area during the 22nd minute of the match. Medical staff intervened immediately, and Žižović was urgently transported to the hospital. Despite intensive medical efforts, he could not be saved.
Zizovic's sudden collapse led to shock and distress among players, coaching staff, and spectators present at the stadium. The match was suspended following the incident.
FK Radnickii 1923 expressed profound sorrow over the passing of their coach, describing him as a respected professional and an exemplary figure both on and off the pitch.
The Serbian Football Federation extended its condolences to Zizovic’s family, club, fellow coaches, and the wider football community, emphasizing the great loss for Serbian and regional football.
Mladen Zizovic was born on Dec. 27, 1980, in Rogatica. He began his football journey with Mladost Rogatica and played as a midfielder throughout his career.
He went on to represent Radnik Bijeljina, Rudar Ugljevik, Zrinjski Mostar (twice), KF Tirana, and Borac Banja Luka. He concluded his playing career at Radnik Bijeljina in 2016.
Zizovic began his coaching career in 2017. He managed Radnik Bijeljina, Zrinjski Mostar, Sloboda Tuzla, Borac Banja Luka, Al-Kholood in Saudi Arabia, and Shkupi in North Macedonia.
