Former Manchester City player and England youth international Courtney Meppen-Walter has died at the age of 32, his former club Bury announced.
Meppen-Walter, who went on to play for several clubs across English football, had most recently turned out for Stalybridge Celtic on loan from Bury. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been made public.
Bury confirmed Meppen-Walter's death in a social media statement, offering condolences to those close to him.
"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former player Courtney Meppen-Walter, at the age of 32.
"The thoughts and condolences of everyone at #buryfc are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."
During his career, Meppen-Walter also played for Carlisle United and Stockport County after coming through Manchester City's system and representing England at youth level.
Meppen-Walter was jailed for 16 months in 2013 after he was found to have caused the deaths of a brother and sister while speeding in a traffic collision.
No further details about the cause or circumstances of his death have been released.
