Galatasaray is reportedly preparing a major transfer move to sign Real Madrid’s Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin as a long-term replacement for Fernando Muslera.
After securing the Super Lig title and completing a historic treble, the Turkish champions are already shaping their squad for next season—and one of the top priorities is filling the gap left by their veteran shot-stopper.
Muslera, who has served Galatasaray for 14 years, is expected to end his remarkable tenure at the club this season.
In their search for a suitable successor, Galatasaray appears to have set their sights on Lunin, who had impressed them with his performances during Courtois’s injury absence at Madrid.
According to Defensa Central, Galatasaray has made an official approach for the 26-year-old and reportedly offered a higher salary than his current terms at Real Madrid. Should he accept, Lunin would be entrusted with the number one spot in goal for the Istanbul side.
However, Galatasaray is not alone in the race. English Premier League side Aston Villa is also said to be interested and has reportedly tabled an even more attractive financial offer.
Lunin remains under contract with Real Madrid until 2030. Despite limited appearances this season—just 13 matches—due to Courtois’s return, he drew attention with his standout performances, particularly in the UEFA Champions League.
A final decision on Lunin’s future is expected after the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
