The UEFA Champions League league-phase schedule for Galatasaray and Fenerbahce has been announced.
Galatasaray opens its campaign away to Portugal's Sporting on Sept. 9, while Fenerbahce hosts Italy's Roma on Sept. 10, kicking off both clubs' runs in this season's competition.
Under the tournament's format, each of the participating teams plays eight league-phase matches, four at home and four away, against opponents drawn from a single combined standings table rather than separate groups. The top eight teams after the league phase advance directly to the round of 16.
Teams finishing ninth through 24th enter a two-legged playoff round for a place in the round of 16, while those outside the top 24 are eliminated from the competition.
Galatasaray's eight matches are scheduled as follows:
The Istanbul club faces four home matches, against Barcelona, Stuttgart, Aston Villa and Feyenoord, and travels for the remaining four, at Sporting, Lille, AEK and Paris Saint-Germain.
Fenerbahce's eight matches are scheduled as follows:
Fenerbahce hosts Roma, Slavia Prague, Liverpool and Villarreal at home and travels to Aston Villa, Shakhtar Donetsk, LASK and Atletico Madrid on the road.
Both clubs will learn their eventual round-of-16 opponents, or playoff-round matchups, once the league phase concludes in late January.
