Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir concedes 12 goals in 7 games after difficult start

Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir has endured a difficult opening to the season, conceding 12 goals across seven official appearances for club and country.

The 30-year-old has started five matches during the first six weeks of the Turkish league season, playing the full 90 minutes in each appearance and letting in eight goals.

Cakir has managed to keep two clean sheets, shutting out Erzurumspor Football Club and Kocaelispor.

European and international games add to Cakir's tally

The Türkiye international also conceded three goals in Galatasaray's Champions League match against Sporting.

His latest international appearance added another goal to the season total after he started Türkiye's match against France and conceded once.

Those results have brought Cakir's overall record to 12 goals conceded in seven official matches this season.

Sharp contrast with last season's opening weeks

Cakir's start stands apart from the same stage of last season, when he conceded only two goals during the first six league weeks.

He spent the opening four weeks of that campaign with Trabzonspor before moving to Galatasaray.
