Galatasaray has taken immediate measures after striker Victor Osimhen sustained an injury during Nigeria’s match against Rwanda. The forward was diagnosed with shin bone edema and reported significant pain.
A private plane was arranged to bring Osimhen to Türkiye on Monday so the treatment could start immediately.
Osimhen left the pitch in visible discomfort, and an MRI confirmed edema in his right shin. He has been withdrawn from Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming South Africa match.
Galatasaray officials were in constant contact with Osimhen and the Nigerian national team to monitor the situation.
Considering next week’s Champions League clash against Frankfurt, the club prioritized Osimhen’s rapid return. The €75 million ($88 million) signing will arrive in Türkiye on Monday for a detailed medical evaluation and immediate treatment under the supervision of Galatasaray’s medical staff.
Osimhen’s absence requires adjustments in Galatasaray’s attacking strategy. Mauro Icardi is expected to play a leading role, although he may not be ready for a full 90 minutes.
Another option is moving Baris Alper into the forward line to cover for Osimhen.
