Galatasaray is making a strong effort to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Salih Ozcan, but Besiktas currently appears to be leading the race for the Türkiye international.

The Turkish champions are set to part ways with Kerem Demirbay and Berkan Kutlu, and aim to bolster their midfield with a high-profile domestic addition. Galatasaray have set their sights on Ozcan and are trying to convince Dortmund with a transfer offer between €4 million (4.57 million) to €5 million.

Following the departure of veteran Dries Mertens, Galatasaray initially targeted Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City. However, with Gundogan's situation unclear, the club has prioritized Ozcan, who has one year remaining on his contract with Dortmund.

Having struggled for consistent playing time this season, Ozcan is reportedly open to a move. Galatasaray has reestablished contact with the player's representatives and received encouraging signals. The midfielder has expressed his willingness to join the Istanbul giants if a deal can be struck between the clubs.

Besiktas, meanwhile, continues to monitor the situation closely. Club president Serdal Adali confirmed the interest, stating, “He is a player we are interested in. We are focusing on young and domestic talent.”
