Galatasaray secured the Turkish Cup with a dominant 3–0 win over Trabzonspor in the final, setting the stage for an eagerly awaited Super Cup encounter under the competition's new format. With this result, the two sides are now set to meet for the fourth time in a single year.

The result has shifted attention to the remaining Super Lig fixtures and the upcoming Super Cup matchups.

The revised Super Cup 8+ format introduces a single-elimination structure, with all matches played at neutral venues. The semifinal winners will advance to the final. These matches are scheduled for January 2026, although exact dates have yet to be confirmed.

Galatasaray and Trabzonspor had already met three times this season, with their most recent clash in the Turkish Cup final. Now, under the new Super Cup structure, they are set to face each other once more in January, marking their fourth meeting within a year.

If Galatasaray had lost the Turkish Cup final, they would have been matched against the third-placed Super Lig team in the Super Cup semifinal. In that case, Fenerbahce—currently second in the league—would have faced the cup winner.

With three match weeks remaining, Besiktas currently holds third place, though Samsunspor and Basaksehir remain in contention.
