Besiktas’ dynamic central midfielder Gedson Fernandes has caught the attention of English Premier League sides, with Nottingham Forest reportedly moving to secure his signature.
The 26-year-old Portuguese player, who was previously linked with Russia’s Zenit, is now a target for Forest as they look to bolster their squad.
According to journalist Matteo Moreno, Nottingham Forest has added Gedson Fernandes to their transfer list and begun negotiations.
However, the biggest obstacle in finalizing the deal is the shared ownership of the player’s transfer rights, which are divided between Besiktas and his former club Benfica.
Gedson Fernandes has appeared in 130 official matches for Besiktas, contributing 18 goals and 16 assists.
Born on Jan. 9, 1999, in Sao Tome, Fernandes started his football journey in the youth ranks of SC Frielas before moving to Benfica in 2009, where he began his professional career.
The midfielder has played on loan for Tottenham Hotspur, Galatasaray, and Rizespor before transferring to Besiktas in 2022.
Standing 1.83 meters tall and playing primarily as a central midfielder, Fernandes is known for his playmaking skills, vertical passes, and energy on the field.
In the 2024-25 season, Gedson impressed by scoring against major Türkiye rivals Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Trabzonspor.
He has also represented Portugal at various youth levels and has two caps with the senior national team.
Currently contracted with Besiktas until 2030, Gedson Fernandes is valued at around €18 million ($21 million), making him one of the club’s key assets and an attractive prospect for Premier League sides like Nottingham Forest.
