Ilayda Nur Curuk wins U23 European shooting title as Türkiye adds 7 medals

Türkiye's Ilayda Nur Curuk became the under-23 European champion in the women's 10-meter air pistol event, leading the national team to seven medals on the second day of the European Under-23 Shooting Championships in Poland.

According to the Turkish Shooting Federation, Curuk scored 235.9 points in the final in Wroclaw to take home the gold medal.

Pistol teams bring in 4 medals

Curuk also joined Simal Yilmaz and Tugba Bugur to secure bronze in the women's team standings, which were determined by adding together the athletes' individual scores.

In the men's 10-meter air pistol event, Fahrettincan Er picked up the silver medal. Er then teamed up with Alp Eren Erdur and Bahadir Beyduz to claim another silver through their combined individual scores.

Skeet and mixed rifle teams step onto podium

Muhammet Seyhun Kaya finished second in the men's individual skeet event, while Kaya, Ibrahim Akgurcu and Ali Can Arabaci earned bronze in the team standings.

Hatice Yel and Yusuf Efe Kaplan also came third in the mixed team 10-meter air rifle final, rounding off a day in which Türkiye collected one gold, three silver and three bronze medals.

The results brought Türkiye's overall medal count at the championships to 10, including two gold, three silver and five bronze medals. The competition is scheduled to end on Aug. 11.
