Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos has praised Türkiye’s rising star Arda Guler, describing the young midfielder as “technically gifted, physically stronger, and now ready for bigger responsibilities” at the club.
Speaking on his popular podcast Einfach mal Luppen, which he co-hosts with his brother Felix, Kroos reflected on Guler’s development over the past two seasons and the growing influence he could have under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.
“If you have a player who can read space this well, you can tolerate a few lost duels,” Kroos said, complimenting Guler’s football intelligence and positioning.
Kroos emphasized that while Guler's ball control and technique were already top-tier last season, his physical improvement this year makes him a more complete player.
“Now, he fully understands his role, contributes more defensively, and looks physically ready. He feels prepared,” said Kroos.
The 19-year-old midfielder impressed during Real Madrid’s U.S. tour, earning praise for his mature performances.
In the 2024-25 season, Guler featured in 49 matches, scoring 6 goals and providing 11 assists. He also played a key role in the FIFA Club World Cup, scoring once and assisting twice in six appearances.
With Luka Modric’s departure and the club’s tactical evolution under Alonso, Guler is expected to play a more central role in Madrid’s midfield in the upcoming campaign.
