Tension surrounding Türkiye’s decisive World Cup playoff clash against Kosovo escalated overnight after local fans set off fireworks outside the Turkish national team’s hotel, an incident widely seen as an attempt to disrupt players’ rest ahead of the high-stakes match.

Late-night disruption adds to already charged atmosphere

In the early hours before kickoff, Kosovo supporters gathered outside the hotel where Türkiye’s national team is staying and ignited fireworks, drawing attention for both its timing and intent. The late-night display was interpreted as a deliberate effort to unsettle players and interfere with their preparation, as teams typically rely on uninterrupted rest before major fixtures.

As reports of the spread, the incident quickly became a focal point in the buildup, with observers noting that tensions had already been running high in anticipation of the match.
